Do u think schools should block websites? Some people say yes and some say no. I think that they should not be blocked for two reasons. One, because students need to get on some web sites to do research for a project but it’s blocked. Two, because teachers could show videos to students on how to do something if it wasn’t blocked. One reason why people would say no is because students could get on websites that are not school appropriate.
My first reason is because when I try to do research for a project at school and I find a web site that will have all my information that I need, I don’t want it to be blocked. It would be annoying, and I’m positive other students would find it annoying to. Especially if every web site on the first page of Google results are blocked and u can’t find any other information.
My second reason is because if certain web sites weren’t blocked, teachers would be able to show us videos online about our lesson. If I’m trying to figure out how to do something in Photoshop I could watch a tutorial video about how to do it. Or if a teacher wants to show the class a video about how Columbus came to America.
Some people might say it’s a bad idea because students could go on web sites that are not school appropriate. Or they might say they would watch YouTube videos or play games on line while in math class instead of paying attention. But with technology today they could do that any way. With smart phones like the iPhone and other devices like the iPod they could get apps and play games on that or go on the YouTube app and watch videos. So it’s not like there stopping something by blocking websites.
To conclude, it would be easier for students and teachers if certain websites were not blocked. We could get help on an assignment or we could watch a video about the day’s lesson.
